Season 27 of The Bachelor premieres Monday, January 23 at 8 p.m. EST with a two-hour special on ABC. Watch new episodes every Monday at 8 p.m. EST throughout the season, or stream it the next day on Hulu.

As is tradition in the world of The Bachelor, the lead singleton has been chosen from the cast of the last season of The Bachelorette, which starred Gabby Windey and Rachel Recchia in their quest for love.

For the first time in the franchise's history, viewers were able to vote for who should receive "America's First Impression" rose and be safe from elimination on the first episode of The Bachelor. That honor ultimately went to Thorbourne.

The twenty-seventh season of The Bachelor premiered on January 23, 2023.[1] This season features 26-year-old Zach Shallcross, an Oracle sales executive from Anaheim Hills, California.[2]

The season concluded on March 27, 2023, with Shallcross choosing to propose to 27-year-old travel nurse Kaity Biggar. They plan to move in together in Austin, Texas in the summer of 2023 and marry in 2025.[3]

On September 14, 2022, it was reported that Shallcross was the frontrunner for the role.[4][5] He was officially announced on September 20, 2022, during the live The Bachelorette season 19 finale. Shallcross then met his first five contestants, Bailey, Brianna, Brooklyn, Cat, and Christina.[6]

Filming began on September 26, 2022, in Los Angeles.[11] On October 22, the show was seen filming in Tallinn, Estonia.[12] This season also includes visits to The Bahamas; London, England; and Budapest, Hungary, with filming concluding in Krabi, Thailand in mid-November.[13]

While filming in London, Shallcross tested positive to COVID-19 and was forced to self-isolate in a hotel quarantine. All of the remaining dates got cancelled and both the cocktail party and rose ceremony shifted into a remote format with simulcast via Zoom. This had previously occurred on the eighth season of The Bachelor Australia.[14] After arriving in Estonia, contestant Greer Blitzer also received a positive Covid test. Unlike The Bachelorette 19, where contestant Logan Palmer was eliminated after testing positive, Blitzer remained in isolation until she returned a negative result the following week.[15]

Contestant Greer Blitzer faced controversy shortly after the season premiere after tweets of her defending blackface were uncovered, continuing the trend of contestants with racist social media histories being cast in the franchise.[54] On January 24, 2023, Blitzer issued an apology for her past behavior.[55]

Zach began his journey in his hometown of Southern California, he is met by season 17 bachelor Sean Lowe and gave him his advice to find a perfect soulmate. Sean has mentored Zach to prepare him a bachelor role including to show his abdominal and muscular moves, and working out at the gym.

In the last episode, the 26-year-old went on his final one-on-one dates and group date ahead of the milestone week. With his seven remaining women, Shallcross traveled to Budapest, Hungary. He ended up saying goodbye to Brooklyn Willie and Greer Blitzer ahead of the rose ceremony. In the end, Katherine Izzo did not receive a rose and was sent packing.

The Bachelor season 27 week 3: "During a crucial week, Zach takes two lucky women on jaw-dropping one-on-one dates featuring prehistoric creatures and a romantic musical performance."

The Bachelor season 27 week 4: "Zach begins his international journey to find love with a deep-sea dive and all-terrain vehicle adventure on the romantic beaches of the Bahamas."

The Bachelor season 27 week 5: "Zach and the remaining women head to London for another week of adventure; Zach is in a never-before-seen scenario which could drastically alter the journey ahead."

The Bachelor season 27 week 7: "It's a crucial week in Budapest, Hungary, with hometowns coming up; after a week of scenic overlooks, mystical mentalists and hot air balloon rides, Zach comes closer to finding the one."

The Bachelor season 27 week 8: "Zach returns to the United States and sets off on a cross-country adventure to meet the families of his four remaining women in their hometowns."

The Bachelor season 27: Women Tell All"Zach's former flames come together to address some of the season's most unforgettable moments and dramatic controversies; Zach enters the hot seat to answer questions and share a sneak peek of overnight dates; an announcement changes someone's life."

As with other seasons of The Bachelor, this season's man of the hour is someone Bachelor Nation has seen before. Zach Shallcross, aka Mr. Right Reasons, first appeared during The Bachelorette season 19, and he made a tough decision to leave when he realized that love was not meant to be.

While 30 women is a lot to choose from, we all know how quickly that number is whittled down over the course of the first few weeks, so get to know the names ahead of the new season so you can keep track.

Fans can look forward to 10 episodes each three hours long, with the first premiering on June 8. The episodes are so lengthy because each will cover an entire season, from corny entrances, dramatic rose ceremonies, feuds, breakups, and the "most romantic moments that Bachelor Nation has ever witnessed," per Variety. Better yet, Harrison will even catch up with franchise alums virtually during the episodes.

Harrison told Variety that the idea for the series actually came from viewers who were tweeting about it. "We really wanted to give Bachelor Nation something to watch, and immediately, there was this clamoring and desire from our fans to watch old seasons," he explained.

The episodes will even be hosted from the driveway outside of the Bachelor mansion, which is, apparently, only five minutes from Harrison's Los Angeles home. A skeleton crew will assist the reality TV star, all while practicing social distancing. Harrison also told Variety that they are working out how to safely produce the series due to coronavirus.

As for which seasons will be featured, not all have been decided save for Season 18 with Juan Pablo Galavis, which introduced Bachelor Nation to their future Bachelorette, Clare. According to Variety's sources, the first Bachelor and Bachelorette seasons are being considered, along with Kaitlyn Bristowe, Sean Lowe, and Ben Higgins' seasons. The most current Bachelor season with Peter Weber won't be included. Although given how the drama from Peter's season has continued to play out now into the real world, who knows? It might be the right time for Harrison to sit down with Pilot Pete and ask him the tough questions.
